Lichtenstein, Roy
(1923-97)
A Pop Artist with an unusual style, often working with stencils producing rows of oversized dots to make his paintings look like huge mass produced images. His objective was to mimic in art form the commercialized consumer driven culture of everyday life, producing art which appeared to be machine made, another reflection of a commercialized way of life. |

Leighton,
Frederick (1830-96)
British painter and sculptor who became President of the Royal Academy in 1878 and was elevated to the English Peerage in 1896.. He was brought up and studied in Europe in Germany, France, Belgium and Italy, but returned to live in London in 1860 where he soon established himself as the leading exponent of the sentimental classicism and idealism of the late Victorian era, in opposition to the Pre-Raphaelites.
