Florentine painter, one of the most distinctive artists of the Early Renaissance whose works illustrate his attempts to reconcile the new bold early Renaissance style with that of the decorative late Gothic, establishing new means of perspective whilst retaining the bright handling of color and the decorative features.   

German Architect and painter most noted for his domestic architecture in and around Cologne.

French painter, took to art in an attempt to escape alcoholism at the age of 19.   Initially painted prolific number of somber landscapes of the countryside around Montmagny near Paris but his paintings brightened and adopted a less somber tone after his return to Montmartre 3 years later and created the first of many street scenes composed of ordinary houses and churches.   He was later to choose Cathedrals as his main subject.
